Hello and welcome to the biggest waste of the save! This is American Idol 14! Okay first I want to say I think Qaasim really fought for the save like this was his last performance. I'll give him a lot of credit in that department. My problem lies with the judges for using the save on someone who I just feel has no shot to win. Last week when Sarina went home the save to me could be understandable because I feel like Sarina could win. With Qaasim I'm glad he gets to head out on the tour but he is far from a front runner and was absolutely deserving to leave. I thought it was great that he went out with a bang. I was not expecting the one save of the season to be used on him. Judges, if any of the real front runners leave early because of your mistake you only have yourselves to blame. So don't be crying when Clark, Jax, Nick, Tyanna, Joey, etc. are in need of the save and you can't give it to them. This is your doing. I swear if Daniel passes any of them because of the judges save I think it's high time we get new judges if this occurs or at least let the save be AMERICA's choice. Because after all this is AMERICAN Idol not JUDGES Idol.
Anyway moving on here, here's how I felt about tonight.
11th: Daniel Seavey - Lost Stars: I can't even begin to explain what kinds of wrong this performance was. First off the lyrics were unsuited for a 15 year old kid who looks like he just graduated kindergarten. Also the vocals were horrible. This was quite possibly one of the worst performances I have ever heard on the Idol stage. Status: Going home, I sure as hell hope.
10th: Rayvon Owen - Stayin' Alive: Okay I just really hate falsetto on guys. I can't explain why but it's a pet peeve of mine. I especially can't stand the Bee Gees voices so when I heard Rayvon was doing this song I was cringing. I have to say I loved how he changed up the arrangement and made it his own. I just wished he would've stayed out of the falsetto and in his chest voice because it's just not appealing to my ears. Status: In danger of leaving.
9th: Maddie Walker - Let's Hear It For The Boy: Oh Maddie. This performance wasn't terrible it just didn't do anything for me. She sounded good but there was just nothing that was special about this to me which is why I fear for her safety. Status: In danger of leaving.
8th: Qaasim Middleton - Come Together: Qaasim's performance was probably one of the best he's done on the show. I enjoyed how involved he was with the crowd and how the very last note at the end went for him. There was a certain spark about this performance that read, I'm fighting for my life on the show, don't send me home. I thought it was a good performance but it was not worthy of the save. Even though it was the best he could do, sometimes your best isn't good enough. Status: Safe for the week because of the save.
7th: Tyanna Jones - The Circle Of Life: This wasn't terrible from Tyanna in the least. Her vocals were just too big for this song. I thought she handled it well but I was really hoping for a real moment from her because so far she's been great but I just haven't seen a moment from her. I think if she doesn't step it up soon Adanna could take her over. Status: Safe for the week.
6th: Adanna Duru - Love You I Do: This performance showed again a lot of what Adanna can do in the competition and it showed her as a force to be reckoned with. I actually think if she can keep a steady pace and out perform Tyanna she could quite possibly knock her out. Status: Safe for the week.
5th: Joey Cook - Mad World: Joey has killed it for two weeks in a row which I applaud her on. Her version, although it was a huge moment for Adam Lambert in Season 8 it just kind of made me forget his version and fall in love with her version which is no easy feat to do. I think if she keeps surprising us from week to week I think she could seriously make at least Top 5. Status: Safe for the week.
4th: Clark Beckham - Sunday Morning: I loved this performance from Clark, I'm glad he finally decided to go for a more recent song and made it his own and KILLED IT! I hope that with next week's theme he can keep showing America he can be a modern singer and have hit songs now rather than in the 60's where he seemed to be stuck in. Status: Safe for the week.
3rd: Jax - Grow Old With You: She's baaaaaaaaaaaaaack! Jax just came back with a vengeance. I am just so glad she's returning to form of what we saw in Hollywood, the girl with so much potiental that she could win the entire show. Jax, if I want to give you any advice it's to stay away from too big of an arrangement for your sweet tone. If you want some uptempo take note of your own BANG BANG because that performance had the perfect balance of soft and hardness. Status: Safe for the week.
2nd: Nick Fradiani - Danger Zone: This was such a moment for Nick and I loved how he changed up the song and made it work for him. I just feel like the judges were a little too hard on him for this performance. I really hope next week he can bring them onboard with his performance. Status: Safe for the week.
1st: Quentin Alexander - You're The One That I Want: Okay this just brought me back to what he did with "I Put A Spell On You" like Adanna I feel like Quentin is stepping it up every week and I think he has a really good chance of staying in the competition for a very long time. Status: Safe for the week, standout performance of the night.
Who SHOULD Go Home;
Daniel Seavey, Rayvon Owen
Who WILL Go Home:
Daniel Seavey, Maddie Walker
I won't count Rayvon as safe quite yet but I just feel like he might just scrape by another week.
